The Saja Publishing Process

The Saja Publishing Process

SAJA's book production process is simple. If we select your book for publication, we charge no fees whatsoever for its production. We bear the entire cost burden of acquiring, editing, designing and publishing your book.

If we do not accept your book for publication under the SAJA imprint, we can still provide you with the necessary editorial production services (for a fee) to get your book ready for publication under your own name. Our mission is to make publishing affordable for authors who have great potential for eventual market success.

Our Publication Steps

  1. You provide SAJA Publishing with your completed book manuscript, and we will review it for acceptability. Please allow 4-6 weeks for review of your submission. In an effort to keep quality standards high, we regret that we cannot accept all manuscript submissions we receive for publication. Given the nature of our pre-publication investment, we are highly selective, and will only publish works with strong commercial potential.

  2. SAJA will execute a contract with the author outlining the terms of publication and describing any author advances and royalty payments.

  3. Once accepted for publication, your manuscript is assigned a SAJA ISBN number and copyrights are obtained for the author. The manuscript is then edited by SAJA's team of professional editors to ensure compliance with SAJA's house editorial style (Chicago) and adherence to traditional publication specifications. Our editors will work with you to correct grammar and style issues in a way that preserves your voice.

  4. As your manuscript is being edited, book cover design is also initiated with our Art Department this time. You supply the images and guidance, and let our designers handle the rest. If you need SAJA to procure and license images for your cover—we will be glad to do so. Designers will work closely with authors to produce the best cover for the project.

  5. Once book editing is complete, book layout will begin. Authors will be supplied with electronic galley proofs (or review copies) to approve throughout the layout process. Corrections can be made to the proof at this time.

  6. When layout is complete, non-fiction books will be comprehensively indexed.

  7. A final review copy will be generated just prior to official printing. This master copy will demonstrate how your book will appear to potential buyers. Once this review copy is approved, your book will be converted to ebook format, printed and made available for purchase.

  8. Post-production, SAJA Publishing will work with authors to develop a targeted marketing strategy for their work(s).
